Ideja ovog članka je poređenje tehničkih karakteristika takozvanih"centerpin" mašina, ili kako ih drugačije nazivaju "float reels - mašinice za plovak". Nije lako naći toliko različitih modela na jednom mestu radi poređenja, pogotovo što se neke od dole navedenih izrađuju ručno na strugu, dok su druge rađene na CNC mašinama. Naravno, sami zaključujete da su ručno rađene mašne skuplje međutim kvalitet je diskutabilan. Zašto kažem diskutabilan? Jednostavno ko god je ikada probao da peca koristeći bilo koju "centerpin" mašinu, suočio se verovatno sa gomilom najlona koji se ko zna odakle iznenada stvorio u njegovim rukama prilikom zabacivanja. Postoje razne tehnike zabacivanja centerpin mašinicom, ali ne mogu da kažem da postoji ijedan lak. Naravno pod "lakim" podrazumevam zabacivanje bilo kojom spining mašinicom. Ko ima problem sa spinning mašinicom verovatno i ne čita ovaj članak.
Šalu na stranu, ali jednom kad savladate zabacivanje bilo kojom tehnikom i počnete da pratite plovak, a ne rad vaših ruku i položaj najlona, jednostavno počnete da uživate. Od tog trenutka svako od nas postaje ekspert i majstor svog sopstvenog stila. Tada počinjete da upoređujete mašinice. Kakav je "start-up"? koiko dugo se vrti? koliko je teška? kakvi kuglični ležajevi se koriste? Položaj mašinice na ručici štapa i tako dalje. Sada je verovatno jasno zašto mnogi proizvođači ostavljaju na svojim "float" štapovima dršku bez sedišta za mašinicu. Da li ste ikada pomislili zašto recimo G-Loomis na svoj GLX od 600-700 dolara stavlja plastične prstenove koji bi trebalo da drže mašinicu slične cene, umesto da postave pristojno sedište za istu. Prstenove uglavnom morate dodatno da osigurate "izolir" trakom, ili u Americi popularnom "ductape".
